High Content Screening (HCS)...

...using automated microscopes and other screening instruments produces far more data than ordinary screens. This is not simply because of image data but also due to the use of complex image analysis algorithms which generate multiple images and variables for response and quality control purposes.

Exports of variables computed / collected during these analyses are readily available with appropriate data filters. This data is the foundation of ScreenAble's approach to HCS. AssayProtocols in ScreenAble can have an unlimited number of responses to fully exploit multiplex paradigms.

The ImageViewer device enhances the value of this data by providing diagnostic views of the scientists choosing. Quick views of these images help the User conceptually map the numbers from a given response to image content. The content of the images can be anything from raw images to a multi-panel view of the image analysis algorithm(s) used. The row selection in the application interface that invokes the ImageViewer determines which images are displayed in this multi-paged graphical device.

Images (*.png) are stored in the database indexed by their run identifier, plate number and position. Management of the stored images is performed by an Administrative interface.
